Social Harmony
and Development Organization (SHADO)
SHADO, established in 1999 in Sialkot, Pakistan, is
a Charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to improving
the quality of life and meeting the needs of poverty-stricken
children, widows and broken families through Social Harmony,
Awareness of Women’s Rights, Education, Free Medical Dispensary, Solution
of Gender Issues, Street Plays, Women’s and Rural Development, Micro-Finance
and Literacy Classes, Book Distribution, and Food Distribution with the help
of local and foreign donors. Social Harmony is the unique concept newly introduced
in Sialkot, Pakistan by the Christian Study Centre, Rawalpindi, Pakistan .
Social Harmony builds understanding and respect between Muslims and Christians
living in Pakistan. The Awareness Program on Women’s Rights is held in
Sialkot and villages in the area. Village women share their experiences and talk
with resource persons about CEDAW, Marriage, Divorce, Property Rights and domestic
violence issues and legal problems in which they are trapped.
