Women Engaged in Bridge Building (WEBB)

WEBB germinated in 2001 at a conference in Milan, Italy as a vision of creating a European-based network of women dedicated to building a bridge between the Muslim world and the West. There are three major purposes of this network. First, WEBB seeks to disseminate correct information about Islam and Muslims in the West. Second, Webb seeks to educate and empower "the silent majority" of Muslims who are moderate, in Pakistan and other Muslim countries. Last, WEBB seeks to facilitate constructive dialogue between open-minded non-Muslim Westerners and Muslims, as well as within Muslim communities between women and men and other groups that appeared to be opposed to one another. Together these measures serve to build bridges across the schisms and chasms of misperceptions that separate non-Muslims from Muslims and marginalized groups of Muslims from the ones with privilege and power.
