Isis International-Manila
Isis International was formed in 1974 to: create opportunities for women's voices
to be heard, strengthen feminist analyses through information exchange, promote
solidarity and support for feminist movements across the globe. Isis focuses
on advancing women's rights by linking women, sharing knowledge and engendering
change. Starting in Rome, Italy and Geneva, Switzerland, today Isis has three
independent offices in Asia, (Manila, Philippines), Africa (Kampala, Uganda)
and Latin America (Santiago, Chile) reflecting a commitment towards South-South
cooperation and South-North linkages. Isis International has an active Women
and Media program and Resource Center with articles, reports, research papers
and links to other women and development programs. The organization is named
after the ancient Egyptian goddess Isis who symbolizes wisdom, creativity and
knowledge. The office in Rome moved to Manila in 1991.
