World Conference of Religions for Peace (WCRP)
The World Conference on Religions for Peace (WCRP) is the
world's
largest multi-religious organization solely dedicated to
promoting
collaboration among the worlds' religious communities. WCRP
programs and
projects include; Conflict Transformation, Children, Development,
Disarmament and Security, Human Rights and Peace Education.
In 1998, it
convened The Religions for Peace Women's Program, for women's
religious
leaders and representatives at local, national, regional
and
international levels. In 2001, with a grant from the Ford
Foundation,
WCRP organized a Global Network of Religious Women's Organizations
and a
Global Directory of over 400 women's groups worldwide. It
includes such
programs as Religion and Violence Against Women: The Role
of Women of
Faith in East and South East Asia. The Global Directory includes
women's
organizations from: Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Indigenous,
Jewish,
Muslim, Multi-religious, Sikh and Zoroastrian religions.
There is a
Directory of Research Institutions focusing on Women and
Religions for
Peace. WUNRN is in the process of contacting women's groups
from the
Global Directory that address Juridical and Factual Aspects
of the U.N.
