Lutheran World Federation
(LWF) The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) is a
global communion of Christian Churches in the Lutheran tradition.
Founded in 1947 in Lund, Sweden, the LWF now has 136 churches
in 76 countries, representing 61.7 million Lutherans worldwide.
The LWF has two programs that relate to the Amor Report. First,
the Office for International Affairs and Human Rights, based
in Geneva, supports UN human rights programs, peacemaking,
reconciliation, and human rights education. The office has
consultative status within UN ECOSOC instruments, and is represented
at the UN in New York by an affiliation through the Evangelical
Lutheran Church of America's Lutheran office for World Community.
The second program, the LWF's Women in Church and Society
(WICAS) desk, emphasizes mainstreaming women into the life
of the church and society, and proposes effective responses
to social injustice and dehumanizing conditions.
