Human Rights
Columbia University in
the City of New York was founded in 1754 and is the fifth oldest
institution of higher learning in the United States . In 1978,
the Center for the Study of Human Rights was established to promote teaching
and research of human rights in their national and international contexts.
The activities of the Center cover all disciplines and address both theoretical
and policy questions. The Center does human rights education training in Africa.
In 1998 the Center published a comprehensive anthology titled Religion and
Human Rights: Basic Documents with a grant from The Pew Charitable Trusts.
