Leading thinkers grapple with the major issues surrounding women’s rights
and gender equality, many of which were highlighted in UN-Women’s recent
flagship report Progress of the World’s Women. Globally, there have been
important gains in education, in the labor market, and in leadership positions
for women. Yet glaring gender gaps remain in earnings, access to social
security, and the division of paid and unpaid care work. Hear from five experts
whose work spans a wide range of research and activism: Shahra Razavi
(UN Women), Gita Sen (Harvard School of Public Health), Juliana
Martinez-Franzoni (University of Costa Rica), Nancy Folbre (UMass
Amherst, emerita), and Janet Gornick (Graduate Center, LIS).
Presented by the Luxembourg Income Study Center, UN Women, and GC Public Programs.
