Little Girl of Nepal - Poem
A girl sits on the rubble of her
collapsed house in Tasarphu, a village close to the quake's epicenter.
Little girl of Nepal,
In a moment your world fell apart,
And then a second time, and more…
You are afraid to go inside, to go outside,
Some of your family are gone, forever,
You don’t know any safe place, any shelter.
You are hungry, and thirsty, and sad.
But try to stand tall, and keep hopeful.
We women and the girls of the world are with you.
Traumas and joys that happen to one,
Happen to us all. WE CARE.
Keep your hopes for school, for joy.
This time of pain, and suffering, must pass.
But you are strong inside, we know.
You will persevere, and grow and learn.
You are a symbol of the resilience of our gender.
We are bonded in spirit, Little Nepal Girl.
You have dignity, and we send hugs for your tears.
The world may seem to fall apart,
But you are symbol of hope for the future.
You will grow and make your dreams come true!
