April 21, 2015 - An Iranian woman experienced a horrific acid attack from a rejected suitor, who had continued to pursue her. She was permanently disfigured and blinded. The attacker said she had “hurt his honor.” The acid mutilated woman victim sought revenge.

It took years; but the Iranian court, based on Islamic law interpreted in Iran as “an eye for an eye,” said she as a woman could only inflict “half revenge;” and it was approved that the attacker could be blinded in one eye. This was done in a hospital with press coverage.
