“Our study comprises one of the largest surveys of
women survivors of human trafficking conducted to date and is the first to
diagnose psychological disorder with a validated instrument [8]. Our findings
suggest the applicability
of the cognitive models of PTSD and depression to
this population and suggest that psychological interventions will need to take
account of the chronic abuse experienced by women survivors of human
trafficking both before and during their exploitation.”
