NEW PROGRAM FOR ONLINE PLATFORM FEMINIST LEADERSHIP FOR ALL GENERATIONS OF ACTIVISTS

September 4, 2014 - The program "Empowering Women and Leadership Development for Democratization" WELDD in English, jointly run by the Women's Centre Shikat Gah Pakistan, Women Living Under Muslim Laws (WLUML) and the Institute for Women's Empowerment in Hong Kong, has launched its new platform of women's leadership.

 

"We are very pleased to bring this area of ​​solidarity, reflection, sharing and creation of knowledge," said team WELDD to present this new portal, which it will serve as a space to imagine, dream, grow and explore in theory and in practice what the sustainable transformation of feminist leadership. This space connection between women from different regions and cultures will feature stories and news of militant this fight as well as success stories of women leaders and strategies for change. The portal will include a blog section, "Public Square" which will be an informal space for expression of opinions, information published on the work of each, reflection on current events and the responses of others.

 

The portal will serve as a virtual way for feminist activists, organizations and actors for a just and equal world equality and provide a space to share useful resources, a forum for exchange of experience and discussion and debate on the topic "How to promote the feminist leadership for sustainable change and in depth." Similarly, WELDD is committed to the production of global knowledge about the South, and will hold a space for theoretical and conceptual explorations from Muslim-majority contexts in Arabic, Bahasa, English, French and Urdu.

 

The program helps WELDD since its implementation, capacity building for inter-generational transformation of feminist leadership worldwide, to upgrade the next generation of activists based in linking women twenty countries, including Egypt, Gambia, Indonesia, Iran, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria and Tunisia. Training workshops, mentoring and interactions to promote gender equality and social justice, and strengthening women's political participation, to build peace, to end violence against women culturally justified in and strengthen economic rights are organized by the program to serve as a springboard for collaborative action and catalyze cross-border partnerships.


And this portal is also designed to engage women as workshops and other activities WELDD cannot reach.
