is a five-part documentary film series that challenges the conventional wisdom
about war. It asks these provocative questions: What if we looked at war
through women’s eyes? What if we looked beyond the familiar images and faces of
war and saw women—as witnesses, peace activists, political negotiators and
heads of state? Women, War & Peace tells the courageous stories of
women in hotspots all over the world, including Bosnia, Liberia, Afghanistan
and Colombia. By placing women at the center of a discourse about global
security, the series offers a fresh and necessary perspective on war today.

WHY
SCREEN WOMEN, WAR & PEACE?
Every
day against formidable odds, women are waging peace in countries embattled by
violent conflict, their efforts often invisible and unrecognized by the rest of
the world. We can honor their work—and raise our voices for peace with
theirs—by organizing and taking part in local screenings of Women, War
& Peace. To date, Women, War & Peace has been screened in
hundreds of towns and cities across the U.S. and around the world. We’ve heard
from so many people who say how deeply they connected with the women profiled
in the films, across borders, language and other differences. We’ve seen
viewers, ignited by what they saw onscreen, engage in passionate discussion and
commit to building peace in their own communities. You can help share the power
of this experience with others.
WHAT’S
IN THE SCREENING KITS?
Each
Women, War & Peace screening kit contains a special DVD set with
all five films on region-free DVDs, meaning they can be played anywhere in the
world. Each kit also comes with a CD that includes a Screening Series Guide
with tips for planning screening events; discussion questions; region-specific
resources; and interviews with five leading activists, including Nobel Laureate
Leymah Gbowee. The full kit is available in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.

SCREENING KITS

Follow
these three steps to host your own Women, War & Peace screening series:
- Plan how your
organization will use the films. Whether you showcase the
series at public events, during staff trainings or in classrooms, we
encourage you to follow each screening with a discussion to actively
engage your audience in dialogue and reflection. We also hope that you
will consider hosting individual events for the each of the five films in
the series! Download our Screening Series Guide for tips for getting the
most from your events.
- Complete our online request
form. Tell us more about your organization and how you plan
to use the series. Please note that we have a limited number of screening
kits, so each application is subject to approval. We recommend submitting
your application at least a month before your event to allow time for
review and shipping.
- Pay for shipping. If your application is
approved, we’ll send you screening kits free of charge! We simply ask that
you cover shipping and handling fees, which can be paid with a credit
card. As an alternative, you can provide us with a FedEx account number to
cover the shipping cost directly.

Congratulations

they went. We’re making every effort to learn how each and every screening kit
is being used in order to measure the reach and impact of the series. Your
