China's Women-Children Health Tour launched on June 28 in Beijing. The tour is guided by the NHFPC and All-China Women's Federation. The National Center for Women and Children's Health, China CDC, the China Women Activity Center, and the China Women's Development Foundation are hosting the health tour.

Wang Guoqiang, vice-minister of the NHFPC; Cui Yu, vice-president of the All-China Women's Federation; and Guo Jiyong, commissioner of Beijing's Health and Family Planning Commission, attended the opening ceremony and gave speeches.

China's Women-Children Health Tour features a series of special lectures concerning women and children's health, health knowledge publicity, voluntary medical treatment and consultation. It aims to spread health knowledge and enhance women and children's self-awareness and healthcare ability, as well as further promote the health level of children and women.

The one-year campaign will be carried out in 12 provinces selected in China's eastern, western and central regions.

Beijing will be the first stop, with the theme of "Women and Children Health, Beautiful Life." Health lectures, voluntary healthcare services from experts, and health consultations will be carried out in Beijing's 16 districts and counties.

As one of the activities for the Women and Children Healthcare Year, the health tour campaign is important to deepening healthcare reform and realizing the "Chinese dream of health," said Wang Guoqiang.

Health and family planning departments at all levels should fully understand the significance of themed publicity for children and women's health, which should be carried out across the country. It should enhance cross-department cooperation, combine new trends and focus on benefits to residents. It should creatively carry out related activities, and then make them routine in order to promote the sound and sustainable development of the health tour, Wang said.

Cui Yu, vice-president of the All-China Women's Federation, required the women's federations at all levels to learn the significance of the health tour and implement publicity and education, benefiting all residents.

As the first stop of the health tour, Beijing will carry out publicity and education activities for the health of women and children according to requirements of the campaign, said Guo Jiyong, commissioner of Beijing's Health and Family Planning Commission.

Gu Xiulian, deputy head of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress and director of the China National Committee for the Wellbeing of the Youth, attended the opening ceremony and congratulated the campaign.

In the opening ceremony, the National Center for Women and Children's Health and China CDC received donations from the website of Wujiaw.com, including publicity materials, expenses for expert training, voluntary medical services and health consultations.

In the opening ceremony, the organizing committee of the China Women Health Series Activities also donated a fleet of six vehicles, nicknamed the "Healthy Mother Express," to the China Women's Development Foundation. The foundation decided to donate them to local healthcare centers for women and children in Beijing's districts and counties, including Yanqing and Miyun.

More than 200 people, including officials from organizers and Beijing's health and family planning departments in its districts and counties, as well as representatives from medical institutions and media, participated in the opening ceremony.

Afterwards, Wang Guoqiang visited a sub-venue for China's Women-Children Health Tour in Fangshan district. He met with experts and residents at a voluntary treatment and consultation site and visited Fangshan's healthcare center for women and children, where he praised Beijing's hardworking healthcare personnel.
