April 17, 2014 - Editor: Arnold Hou

A project to promote employment opportunities among female college graduates was officially launched at Renmin University of China in Beijing, on April 14.

The project, jointly launched by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, aims to seek and show models of female college graduates in finding employment and achieving their entrepreneurial dreams, promote female college graduates' capabilities in finding employment, and offer guidance on finding employment and achieving entrepreneurship.

The project will run until the end of December this year.

Vice President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF Song Xiuyan delivered a speech at the launch ceremony, in which she stressed the importance of promoting employment among college graduates, something that the central government and State Council have already attached importance to. Song also talked about the projects that the ACWF and other government sectors have launched since 2009, including supporting female college graduates in starting their careers, inviting outstanding women to give speeches to college students, and establishing service platforms for the employment and entrepreneurship of female college graduates.

Song said that there have been a large number of female college graduates who are based on the grass root level, or who start their careers resolutely in recent years.

Song said she hoped female college graduates establish a correct outlook on life and values, vigorously put forward the spirit of self-respect, self-confidence, self-reliance and self-strengthening, and toughen themselves up at grass-roots levels, tough places and posts which meet social needs, and to achieve extraordinary results in ordinary work.

Song also said she hoped the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and other government sectors show their concern for female college graduates as always, and offer them support in promoting employment and entrepreneurship.

In addition, Song also put forward her wishes to employers, urging them to implement the government policies on gender discrimination, help eliminate gender employment discrimination and offer equal job opportunities to female college graduates.

At the launch ceremony, videos of candidates of model female college graduates were broadcast. Some female college graduates also shared their career experiences.

In attendance at the ceremony were Director of the College Students Department of the Ministry of Education Wang Jianguo and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security Qiu Xiaoping, who also delivered speeches.

Government officials, college students and teachers, and correspondents attended the launch ceremony.
