TIME FOR ACTIVE REVIEW, ANALYSIS & LOBBYING OF GOVERNMENTS FOR CSW 58 DRAFT AGREED CONCLUSIONS TO REFLECT WOMEN'S RIGHTS

Dear Members,

The 58th session of the Commission on the Status of Women's (CSW) negotiations are in full swing and the final negotiated outcome document will be ready by the end of the week. We are writing to you today because we need your help in this final push to ensure that women's rights are included in CSW 58's outcome document!

AWID has been hearing concerns about the state of the current draft of the negotiated outcomes from women's rights leaders and advocates lobbying at the UN. Unfortunately the current document faces challenges regarding the full incorporation of sexual and reproductive health rights, and there are questions regarding governments' full commitment to funding women's rights and gender justice. In addition to these concerns, we continue to urge CSW 58 to address the need to transform the unsustainable economic model and to incorporate women's rights as an integral component of development.

It is of utmost importance for feminist movements around the world to call on CSW 58 to address these issues and implement our requests. Please join our online media and call on the CSW 58 to ensure women's rights are at the heart of development! Here are some suggested messages that you can use on online media:

  1. Women's rights are human rights and must be central to #Post2015 #CSW58 #AWIDMembers
  2. In #Post2015 women's rights should have a stand-alone goal and stand-alone funding #CSW58 #AWIDMembers #YesToGenderGoal
  3. #Post2015 must transform the unsustainable economic model #AWIDMembers #CSW58
  4. #SRHR are crucial to advancing the #Post2015 agenda. There can't be economic justice without bodily autonomy. #CSW58 #AWIDMembers

Let's make our voices heard around the world by using Twitter and Facebook to send our messages to CSW 58 member states to build a new development agenda that is grounded in human rights for ALL!
