OF FEMINIST LEGACY IN GEORGIA

- On the International Women´s Day a new documentary „Untold Herstories"
was premiered within the „Women's Rights - Art in Action" project, which
was funded by the Estonian Embassy in Tbilisi. The documentary tells a story
about three 19th century Georgian feminists´ Barbara Jorjadze, Ekaterine
Gabashvili and Kato Mikeladze. The main aim of this film is to introduce the
pioneers of Georgian feminists´ movement and to show that there is a historical
legacy of feminism in Georgia.
The concept of this documentary came from the Independent Group of
Feminists. Screenplay was written by Tamta Melashvili and the film was directed
by Salome Sagaradze.
