After a hard work of advocacy and lobby, we, Indigenous
Women, achieved the inclusion of a specific paragraph on Indigenous Women in
the agreed conclusions adopted by CSW 57 which states:
27. The Commission reaffirms that indigenous women often
suffer multiple forms of
discrimination and poverty which increase their
vulnerability to all forms of violence; and
stresses the need to seriously address violence against
indigenous women and girls.
FIMI would like to emphasize that this document represents
the commitment of all states and it is an important tool for our lobby and
advocacy at country level.
