International Coalition Launches
Online Directory of Urgent Responses for Women Human Rights Defenders
10 December 2012
- On the occasion of International Human Rights
Day,
the Urgent Responses Working Group of the Women Human Rights Defenders
(WHRD) International Coalition and the Association for Women’s
Rights in Development (AWID) are pleased to launch the Online Directory of Urgent
Responses for Women Human Rights Defenders.
The Online Directory is based on the mapping of "Urgent Responses for Women Human Rights Defenders at Risk” produced by the WHRD International Coalition and AWID in June 2011. The re-designed Online Directory takes the Table of Responses from the 2011 publication, providing easy access to resources and responses for WHRDs.
The Online Directory is the
first collective effort to systematize the range of responses available for
WHRDs at risk, with information about women’s and human rights
organizations at international and regional levels. We hope that this resource will be used by WHRDs and
their organizations worldwide to access information and support when facing
emergency situations.
The Online Directory was created by AWID in
its role as Chair of the Urgent Responses Working Group
of the WHRD International Coalition. We will continue to add new resources and
update the information in the Directory; Spanish and French versions will be
available in early 2013.
