WOMEN
& SECURITY PROJECT
This multi-year project intends to document the ways in which human security is defined by civil society. Through this project, we will work toward a feminist definition of human security. This project directly connects CWGL’s work on violence against women and militarism with our work on economic and social rights.
This project seeks to garner data on the ways in which civil society defines human security, and document how these definitions may vary by gender and location. This data will be analyzed against state spending, and the resulting report will be shared with organizations and individuals working on violence against women, human rights and human security.
CWGL will provide partners with data and analyses from the project to better inform advocacy strategies on human rights and gender-based violence.
What Does Security Mean to You?
Often when we hear about security, it’s in terms of the State: military, police, private armies or other “security sector” agents. In your life, what does it take to feel secure? What does human security mean to you?
