Twenty-six rural migrant delegates attended the 18th National Congress of
the Communist Party of China (CPC) this year, marking the first time that rural
migrants have been represented at the national congress.
This move shows that the Central Committee of the CPC and the Chinese
government recognize the ways in which migrant workers have contributed to
social and economic development in the past decade.
Representing the rights and interests of millions of migrant workers across the
country, the delegates jointly voiced their proposals on how to improve the
livelihood and working environments for their counterparts.
There were three women among the delegates, Gao Meili, Yan Wenjing, and Su
Ling.
