Hong Kong Newspaper Wenweipo reported yesterday that China's ministries are seeing an increasing number of women officials, highlighting the rise in women's political participation.

In conjunction with the upcoming 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the State Council of China appointed and dismissed various officials in important ministry positions.

Among them, two women were appointed to assistant minister positions. Huang Xiaowei was appointed as Vice Minister of Supervision of the People's Republic of China while Cai Qihua was appointed as Vice Minister of Water Resources on October 29, 2012.

When it came to important departments of economic and finance, Liu Yaming was appointed as Director of the Yangtze River Water Conservancy Committee.
