The thank you campaign to the President of the General Assembly
and the Secretary General inspired many of you to send emails (Thank
you!) - -which helped. We represent “civil society,” the non-governmental
public. Most were personal emails, some represented NGOs, including support
from the president of
MOST IMPORTANT: We seek
support from among the 193 member-states (countries) who belong to the UN to
co-sponsor or sponsor the President of the General Assembly’s Initiative for a
Fifth World Conference on Women (5WCW). Anyone from any country can initiate a grassroots effort in any
country to lobby her government and her UN ambassador. It can be a personal
connection with someone of influence—you may be one or two degrees of separation
away from the person who can do this. Grasssroots petition are another means to

Everywhere I go
in my more usual activities as an author/speaker/workshop leader I find women
who get it how 5WCW is a means to energize a global women’s movement, bring
current and next generation of women leaders together, form circles of support
that can lead to a critical mass and tipping point.
