APPOINTMENT OF HUMAN
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ADVISER, GENDER EQUALITY
Brigitte Leduc
Brigitte Leduc has been
working as a gender equality specialist for over 15 years, supporting gender
mainstreaming processes in international organizations in Asia, Africa and now
in the Pacific region. She has extensive experience working with both
civil society organizations and government institutions as well as with
development partners. She took part in several advocacy, research and
capacity building initiatives in mainstreaming gender in sustainable
development, poverty reduction and climate change adaptation. She is
Canadian and has a background in socio-cultural anthropology.
Brigitte Leduc joined SPC
in October 2010 as the Gender Equality Officer and has been working closely
with countries to strengthen their capacities in gender mainstreaming – in
particular the Solomon Islands, Cook Islands, Tonga, PNG and Niue.
Ms.
Leduc's appointment as the Secretariat of the Pacific Community
Human Development Programme Adviser Gender Equality commenced March 1,
2012. She is based at the Headquarters of the SPC in Noumea, New
Caledonia.
