Shadow Report to UN CEDAW Committee
SUPPLEMENTING AND COMMENTING ON
NORWAY 8TH PERIODIC REPORT ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF UN CEDAW (CONVENTION ON THE
ELIMINATION OF ALL FORMS OF DISCRIMINATION AGAINST WOMEN)
This
Shadow Report is a joint initiative by 30 Norwegian NGOs. Each organisation has
contributed their expertise and knowledge in their particular field. The issues
raised in particular sections reflect the concerns and the expertise of these organisations.
This does not mean that all the supporting organisations necessarily endorse
all the specific policy recommendations, where these are outside their remit.
The
report has been made possible thanks to financial support from the Ministry of
Children, Equality and Social Inclusion. The work has been coordinated and
conducted by FOKUS - Forum for Women and Development - an umbrella organisation
for 73 women’s organisations in Norway. FOKUS’ main goal is to work for an
improvement of women’s social, economic and political situation
internationally, with an emphasis on the countries in the South.
This
report was finalised on May 20th 2011.
