Report: report
More
than 51,000 refugees and 417,000 asylum seekers are currently living in
Johannesburg, South Africa—many of whom face high unemployment, xenophobia and
discrimination. Women especially are at risk of sexual harassment and violence
when they sell goods on the street or in flea markets, go to work or take
public transportation. Yet, despite this, many displaced people living in the
city have demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit to solve problems, innovate
and adapt. Some 75 percent are economically active.
