    Ewha Global Empowerment Program (2011 Winter)
      ¡°Asian Feminisms and Transnational Activism¡±

The Asian Center for Women¡¯s Studies at Ewha Womans University is launching the Ewha Global Empowerment Program (EGEP). The goal of our educational program is to empower women working in non-governmental public sectors and to nourish the next generation of women leaders in Asia and Africa. Fulfilling Ewhas education spirit, we hope to participate in the global effort to advance women¡¯s rights and gender equality and contribute to the enlargement of opportunities for womens education and networks in Asia and Africa.  EGEP is a two-week residential program that will take place twice a year (January and July) run by Ewha Womans University faculty and   international experts and scholars.

Ewha Global Empowerment Program (2011 Winter)
Theme: ¡°Asian Feminisms and Transnational Activism¡±

Program Goals

 

 

On completing this program, participants of this program will have:
- improved their theoretical knowledge and practical capacities from a gender perspective;
- broadened their understanding of women¡¯s lives, women¡¯s issues, and women¡¯s rights in Asian context; and
- strengthened their leadership capacities to build women¡¯s solidarity and cooperation in local, national, and
   transnational contexts.

 

 

 

 

 

Eligibility

 

 

With minimum three years of experience, women activists working in international and national non-governmental public sectors in Asia, such as NGOs, NPOs, civil society organizations, as well as individuals working independently are encouraged to apply for this program.

 

 

 

 

 

Number of Participants : 25

 

 

 

 

 

Program Contents

 

 

The following are the major activities that participants may expect from the program:
- Two-day EGEP inaugural international symposium and workshop
- Up to ten lectures on "Asian feminisms and transnational activism"
- Meeting and networking with women policy makers and scholars in Korea
- Study tours to Korean NGOs
- Cultural and social events

 

 

 

 

 

Language : English is the official language of the EGEP.

Funding

 

 

The program is funded by Ewha Womans University. The University covers the tuition for all the participants. Participants from Korean ODA beneficiary countries will be awarded airfare, university dormitory accommodation and two-week allowance.
