GENDER ACADEMY

For the last ten years, the International Training Center of
the ILO has been offering successful high level training activities aimed
at increasing awareness of gender equality principles and at providing
practical tools for their implementation. Indeed, throughout the years the
International Training Centre of the ILO has become an hub offering a unique
opportunity of gaining knowledge and sharing best practices in the field of
gender mainstreaming.
The newly designed Gender Academy is a consolidation of this experience and is
addressed to development professionals from all over the world with a view to
offering an exclusive forum for discussion and a platform for new experiences.
The format of the Academy makes it an opportunity for updating and upgrading
professional knowledge through exposure to high-level international expertise.
Furthermore, the focus of the Academy is on “how to”,
critically reviewing available tools and practical methods. It is therefore
recommended for specialists and practitioners who already have familiarity with
gender concepts.
The attractive contents addressed during the Academy offer cutting-edge topics,
which will be presented and discussed in a series of master classes with
simultaneous interpretation in English, French and Spanish. In addition,
a range of elective workshops will offer additional insight into specific
subjects, develop skills and provide room for application and
knowledge-sharing.

Academy is designed for development professionals including: government
officials, representatives of employers and workers' organisations,
international organizations, such as the agenciesof the UN system and the
international
financial institutions, the private sector, academia and
civil society organizations.
The
Gender Academy lasts two weeks and consists of a combination of :

This edition of the Gender Academy is offered in English,
French and Spanish. Simultaneous interpretation will allow for an intense
sharing of experiences and information among participants from
different geographical realities.

Deadline for registration: 30 September 2011
Fees: 3,250 Euro, covering tuition and subsistence fees.
Tuition costs cover: course preparation, implementation and evaluation;
training materials and books; the use of training facilities and support
services, including online resources.
Subsistence costs cover: Full board and lodging on the Centre's campus;
laundry; local study visits; emergency medical insurance; some recreational
activities.
A limited number of fellowships is available for
nationals from developing countries (click here to see the list of eligible countries).
Fellowships cover tuition fees only: participants have to
cover their subsistence at the Centre (1,680 euros for 2 weeks) as well as
their travel and visa fees.
