HUMANITARIAN SHIP RACHEL CORRIE
ATTACKED
ALLEGEDLY BY ISRAEL IN INTERNATIONAL
WATERS
Gaza-Bound Humanitarian Ship Attacked: Report By IB Times Staff Reporter - May 16, 2011 An Israeli war ship has attacked a vessel carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza in the international waters, the Centre for Research and Globalization said in a repot posted in its website. The Malaysian ship, Spirit of Rachel Corrie, was carrying 7.5 kilometers of UPVC (plastic) sewage pipes to help restore the devastated sewerage system in Gaza when it was attacked in international waters by Israeli and Egyptian ships, the report said. "They are shooting all over the place. We can't continue ..." a message from the vessel said, according to the report. The Centre for Research on Globalization (CRG), an independent research and media organization based in Montreal, said it has been in contact with the ship ever since it started voyage from the Port of Piraeus, Greece, on May 11. "We have been intercepted by Israeli ship and Egyptian ship. We are disobeying the orders and sailing ahead to Gaza," an earlier message from the ship had said. "They are opening fire across our ship! We are still sailing ahead," another message said later on. However, the report could not be independently verified. As many as eight people have been reported killed in the latest bout of
violence that broke out in Israel's borders with Palestine.
