"This
Panel Report was issued following the International Day of Older Persons on 1
October 2010 at the United Nations in Geneva.Emminent experts and head of UN
agency units were invited to sum up the development on ageing within the
United Nations. The
sad news is that not much is done and not much has developed until
2010, through some initiatives of NGO's. Despite those initiatives the
situation is alarming: a section of the population remains 'invisible' and
neglected at the UN: the Ageing Population! No budget, almost unexistent
staff with no means to make a change, publications mainly demographically
descriptive. The
situation must change and the NGO Commitee on Ageing in Geneva is committed
