"The proportion of young people in the population of Egypt is significantly larger compared with other age groups. About 62% of the total population in Egypt, is age 29 or under, and nearly 40% is between the ages of 10 and 29."

Gender Excerpts from Survey Report:

*3/4 of female respondents are circumcised (FGM). Most respondents (64%)

 think the practice is necessary.

*Almost 44% of all females have experienced sexual harassment, which was

 more common in urban areas.

*Young women tend to marry at younger ages than men. The median age at

 marriage among males aged 18 and above, is age 25, compared to age 19

 among their female counterparts.

*37% of female youth ages 25-29 are married by the age of 18, compared to

 only 4% of male youth. Early marriage is particularly prevalent among rural girls,

 and girls with low educational attainment.

*Among married female respondents (10-29 years old), 88% had given

 birth.

*More than 2 million young people are out of school. 80% of them are girls from

 rural areas and in Upper Egypt.

*The unemployment rage (ages 15-29) among females (31.7%) is more than

 double that among males (12.5%).
