Call for Submissions: Key Demands for Global Day of Action - November 29th

This year, November 29th (Women Human Rights Defenders Day) will be marked as a day for global action against violence against women and militarism. CWGL is encouraging all campaign participants to plan a peace vigil or peace march as a demonstration of global solidarity for peace and non-violence. Read more about the Call to Action and Instructions for Planning a Vigil in the Take Action Kit: http://16dayscwgl.rutgers.edu/2010-campaign/take-action-kit.

If you are planning an event on this day, please send us two additional demands that relate to your local activities. We have named three broad messages in the Call to Action, but we want to hear about the issues most important to you and share them on the 16 Days Website. We will be creating a new section on the website to feature your input! Please send your messages directly to 16days@cwgl.rutgers.edu.

Event in New York City - November 29th

The Center for Women's Global Leadership, the Global Fund for Women, and Ipas would like to invite you to attend two exciting events beginning at 4pm on Monday, November 29th at the Church Center for the United Nations in New York City to mark the 16 Days Campaign.

This year's campaign theme focuses on the intersections of militarism and violence against women, so we will begin with a Feminist Dialogue on Militarism and Military Intervention with Yanar Mohammed, Ann Wright, Cynthia Enloe, Yifat Susskind, and Esther Hyneman. The panel will be followed by a candlelight vigil to commemorate the campaign's Global Day of Action.

Online Campaign Calendar (http://16dayscwgl.rutgers.edu/campaign-calendar/submit-an-event)

This year there is a new online system for submitting your plans directly to the Campaign Calendar. We ask that you submit just one entry that lists all of your plans during the campaign, rather than submitting a separate event form for each activity. You can also upload several documents that explain your events (http://16dayscwgl.rutgers.edu/campaign-calendar/submit-an-event). The calendar will still be searchable by region and country. Submit your information today and spread the word!!
