Objectives

Violence against women living with HIV (WLH) has increasingly been recognized as a key issue in the international agenda on HIV, gender and development. So far, however, this issue has received scant attention in research, the policymaking process and specific interventions at the regional, national and local levels.

Addressing the urgent need to open an engaging dialogue with diverse participants from around the world, this forum will focus on:

a. Analyzing the current definitions and data on types of violence, dimensions, social determinants and consequences of violence against WLH, emphasizing progress made and current gaps.
b. Examining the existing projects and programmes worldwide addressing violence against WLH and identifying key factors of success.
c. Identifying strategic issues regarding violence against WLH for advocacy, research, programming and policy development.

Each of the themes mentioned above will be explored using recorded sessions with experts, bibliography, and case analyses. A facilitator will coordinate the dialogue and summarize the main issues addressed every week. An electronic version of the final report will be disseminated worldwide through the DVCN Bulletin, the Community of Practices on HIV and VAW, and the ICW webpage and bulletins. Participants completing the program will be awarded with a certificate signed by the convening organizations.
