Aware Girls is young women led Organisation
working for women's empowerment, gender equality, and peace in Pakistan. We are
working to strengthen the leadership capacity of young women enabling them to
act as agents of social change and women's empowerment in their communities..
1.Title of the Project: Exploring young People as Seeds of Peace
Objectives:
i.To strengthen the leadership skills and peer education skills of 25 young peace activists per year enabling them to promote peace and non-violence in their communities
ii. Preventing young people
from indulging in Militancy by Promoting values of tolerance, non-violence,
humanism, equity among young people and helping them understand the complex
realities behind the Islamic Militancy in
iii. To promote supportive and trusting relationship among young people from different ethnic backgrounds to promote harmony and peace in the society
Activities:
i. A comprehensive training manual will be developed on ‘Peace Activism among Young People”
ii. A gender balance group of 20 young people will be formed in District Peshawar (One of the Conflict Affected Area). This group of young people will act as “Seeds for Peace” and will promote the values of tolerance and non-violence for promoting peace
iii. A 10 days Training will be conducted for these young peace activists to strengthen their capacity in promoting peace through propagating values of tolerance, non-violence, pluralism, and humanism among young people. The training will educate these young people on peace building, conflict resolution, and will help them understand the history and complex realities behind terrorism in the region. Specific Skills provided to young people in this training will be leadership, Communication, Mobilization, and Peer Education Skills.
iv. These peace activists through peer education will promote tolerance, non-violence and humanism among young people and will prevent them falling prey to terrorist organizations by helping them understand the history and reality behind the conflict in region. Study Circles will be conducted to educate young people of community on Non-Violence, Tolerance, and Peace.
v. One Study circle of 3 persons will be conducted by each trained activist on monthly basis with young people at community level, in Schools, and colleges. 20 Study Circles reaching 60 young people will be conducted per month.

2.Title of the Project: Economically Empowering Young Women of Slums
Objectives:
i. To economically empower 30 young women of slums living in
ii.To provide mentorship and support to young women living in slums to start and upgrade their business by the start of year 2011.
Activities:
i.A group of 25 young women living in slums of
ii.A comprehensive training manual on “Micro-Entrepreneurship” addressing the needs of a women living in slums will be developed.
iii. A ten days capacity building training on Micro-Entrepreneurship will be conducted, to enable young women of slums to start their own business
iv.Networking meetings will be held between trained young women and Financial Institutions such as Micro-Credit Banks and Organizations providing small loans.
v.At least 20 young women will get loans and will start or upgrade their business
vi.Follow up meetings will be held with trained young women, their issues will be discussed, and will be provided mentorship and support.

3.Title of the Project: Engendering Humanitarian Response
Objectives:
i. To gain understanding of how the conflict has affected women of affected areas through research among women of conflicted areas
ii. To prepare recommendation for gender mainstreaming of humanitarian response and Disaster Management
iii.To advocate for gender mainstreaming of humanitarian response and disaster management
Activities:
i.A Group of 3young women formed, and a 3 days training on “Focus Group Discussion; A Research Tool” conducted
ii. Fifteen Focus Group Discussions conducted with Internally Displaced Women living in Camps, and Host Communities to research on gender issues faced by women during displacement and living in Camps/Host Communities
iii. A comprehensive Research Tool developed as a tool for Advocacy
iv.Advocacy meetings conducted with UN agencies such as UNHCR, UNICEF, and UNFPA, Civil Society of Pakistan, Print and Electronic Media, Education and Health
v.Research Report disseminated among UNHCR, UNICEF, and UNFPA, Civil Society

4. Title of the Project: Internally Displaced Women and their Issues
Objectives:
i.To advocate for integrating gender issues in the humanitarian response and in National Plan of Action for Disaster Management
ii.To improve the health of Internally Displaced Women by providing them on Health and Hygiene Education
iii.To provide health and hygiene kits to Internally Displaced Young Women , specifically adapted to the needs of young women
Activities:
i. Advocacy meetings for engendering humanitarian response with UN agencies, Health Department, Media, and Civil Society of Pakistan
ii.To conduct Health and Hygiene Education Sessions with women living in Camps, Host communities, and those who had returned back
iii. To provide health and hygiene kits specially adapted for young women to young women living in Camps, and Host Communities

5.Title of the Project: Promoting HIV Prevention among Young Women
Objectives:
i.To educate 5,000 young women of Schools and Colleges of North West Frontier Province of Pakistan enabling them to prevent themselves from HIV.
ii.To establish 100 AIDS Discussion Clubs in girls’ Schools and Colleges of North West Frontier Pakistan volunteering at least 2,00 young women for promoting HIV awareness among young women and to reduce the stigma and discrimination related to HIV/AIDS
iii.To raise awareness among young people about HIV/AIDS prevention, transmission, and treatment through Local Radio Programs
Activities:
i.Training Manual for HIV/AIDS Education developed and upgraded
ii.150 Secondary and
iii. 2,500 Young women of 5 target districts educated about HIV/AIDS Prevention
iv. Each Young woman further shared information with at least 10 young women, and by this way they were able to share information with 25,000 young women.
v. 50 AIDS Discussions Clubs established for awareness raising on HIV/AIDS Prevention and stigma reduction
vi.150 young women and 90
vii.24,000 young people reached with HIV/AIDS information through 20 Radio programs

6. Title of the Project: SUHAILEE (FEMALE FRIEND)
Objectives:
i.Building capacity of local organisations about misoprostol, Reproductive Health and Safe Abortion
ii. Providing legal support to women who want to access safe abortion
iii.Raising awareness among women without access to media or phone about safe motherhood, safe abortion, and reproductive ehalth
iv.To ensure access to information of women through establishing Helpline
Activities:
i.Hotline Service to provide advice to the women on abortion
ii. Building capacity about misoprostol within local organizations
iii.Awareness campaign - Developing and Disseminating of IEC Material
iv.To consult with lawyer about language and legal limits

7. Title of the Project: Healing trauma among young women
Objectives:
i.To help trauma victims especially women and children to interpret and heal from their experience
ii.To provide couselling to Trauma Affected women for mainstreaming them in the society

i. Conducting Fact Finding Research among the young women affected of
terrorism in
ii. Trauma Healing 10 days training for 10 Female Counselors
iii.Identifying trauma affected women, and helping them heal and interperet their trauma through counseling
