FemCities Conference 2010 - Program +

23-24 June, 2010 - Stuttgart, Germany

The FemCities Conference 2010 on "Jobs, Service Provision and Public Procurement: Cities and Municipalities as Promoters of Gender Equality" will be hosted by the City of Stuttgart (Germany) from 23-24.6.2010.

It is organized in cooperation between: City of Stuttgart, Staff Unit for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men – City of Vienna, Department for the Promotion and Coordination of Women’s Issues

The conference focuses on gender equality strategies, steering approaches and implementation. Municipalities and cities fulfil multiple functions: as employer, service provider and contracting body. How can municipalities and cities successfully promote gender equality? How can these strategies be implemented within city administrations, but also in provision of services? To what extent can municipalities and cities influence public procurement procedures by applying gender equality clauses?

We are looking forward to exchanging good practice examples by presentations, workshops and posters.

Target groups of the conference are women’s and gender equality officers, offices or departments of city or municipality administrations. Equality structures within cities in Europe differ broadly: the FemCities conference strives to offer interesting inputs to all of them. Some cities start to set up equality structures, others are mainly looking for detailed in-depth discussion on implementing certain aspects of equality strategies. This conference strives to cover all interests, addressing them in presentations, workshops and poster presentations!
