The EWL conference 50/50 – No Modern European
Democracy without Gender Equality aims to answer these questions through a panel
of very prominent women politicians and the contribution of members of the EWL
across

EWL 50/50 Campaign for Democracy was launched in September 2008, it was very
active in relation to the European elections of June 2009 and will continue in
relation to the nomination of the European Commission and “EU top jobs”. The
50/50 Campaign aims to promote greater involvement in European politics, to
achieve the equal representation of women and men in EU decision-making bodies
and to put issues of equality between women and men at the core of European
