1 MILLION OF SIGNATURES AGAINST LAPIDATION - STONING

At the dawn of the 21st century, slaughters perpetrated against women are still going on in the open as well as in an invisible way.

We are aware that in a country, the situation of women and the respect of their rights show the level of democracy of society as a whole.

Unfortunately, we observe today that women are still the victims of psychological and physical massacres, all over the world.. Women are prosecuted , judged and condemned in the name of religion, traditions, and reactionary laws.

The most horrible application of those sentences is lapidation. Women accused of adultery are sentenced to death by pelting stones at them.

This atrocity is legal in many countries . In spite of Human Rights Charts proclaimed and signed by States, this sentence is still enforced for women in countries like Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Africa.

As defender of the right for all human beings and therefore women to live in democracy and freedom, we say "NO" to lapidation which is a crime and aims at controling the body and the life of women.

We ask for the immediate banning of such inhuman practices and claim that they be recognized as crime against Humanity.

Therefore we appeal to the United Nations to put pressure on the countries that legitimate lapidation.

We ask the United Nations and all international Institutions to call upon the countries where lapidation is legal, so that the legislations of those countries should condemn by law those practices. And we ask them to launch campaigns to make people aware of the problem.
