International Women's Day 2009 - Cyprus - Woman Symbol from Black to White with Ribbons - Transforming from Violence & Exploitation to Human Rights.

The Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family is a non-profit, non-governmental organization in Cyprus that since 1990, works in the field of domestic violence.

The Association celebrated the anniversary of March 8^th, the International Women’s Day, in all main Cyprus cities and various Municipalities and Communities with the collaboration of the Municipalities and Communities’ Authorities.

 At the event, we tried to transform a black symbol of the woman gender into white, with the use of white ribbons. By doing this, we wanted to pass the message of wiping out every form of INJUSTICE, VIOLENCE, and EXPLOITATION of women and reinstating HUMAN RIGHTS to all women despite their age, colour or beliefs.

This event takes place every year on March 8^th, every year in more municipalities. This year in the capital of Cyprus, in Nicosia, we also had a symbolic run with the title “I RUN AGAINST VIOLENCE" with the participation of ‘DROMEAs Racing’ Association.
