UNCTAD: Trade and Gender
The United
Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) will hold an "Expert Meeting on Mainstreaming Gender
in Trade Policy" in Geneva on 10-11 March 2009.
Two
UNCTAD reports will form the basis of discussion:
-Mainstreaming gender in
trade policy
-Mainstreaming gender in trade policy: case studies.
It
will discuss the social and economic impacts of trade policies on gender; offer
a forum to exchange experiences and present relevant work; provide the
opportunity to discuss relevant strategies to make trade policies more
responsive to gender considerations, and to look at possible further activities
that UNCTAD, in cooperation with the UN Task Force on Gender and Trade and
other relevant stakeholders can undertake in order to promote and advocate
gender mainstreaming in trade policy.
