Issue No. 2 of Words to action, the Division’s quarterly e-newsletter on violence against women is now available online. To subscribe click here (daw@un.org).
The deadline for Member State responses to the comprehensive questionnaire seeking information for the coordinated violence against women database was 4 January 2009. Members States that have not yet submitted their replies are invited to do so at their earliest convenience to vawdatabase@un.org. The database will be launched during the Commission on the Status of Women in March 2009. A brochure and FAQ on the database are available online.
December 2008
On 18 December 2008 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted two new resolutions related to violence against women by consensus:
- Resolution 63/155 on the intensification of efforts to eliminate all forms of violence against women; and
- Resolution 63/156 on trafficking in women and girls.
November 2008
The final report of the Expert Group Meeting on good practices
in legislation on violence against women is now available.
