WOMEN HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS
The International
Campaign on Women Human Rights Defenders is an international initiative for the recognition and protection
of women who are activists advocating for the realization of all human rights
for all. The campaign asserts that women fighting for human rights and
particularly focusing on women's human rights face specific violations in the
course of their work because of their sex and gender. In addition, the Campaign
focuses on the situation of human rights activists defending women's rights and
in particular calls attention to the violations experienced by lesbian, gay,
bisexual, transgender and other rights activists on grounds of their sex and
gender identities.

For those of you how identify as women human rights defenders
- or work with those that do - we hope that you can take the time to respond to
the online questionaire aimed at understanding the current constraints faced by
women human rights defenders globally.
The International Campaign on Women Human Rights Defenders is now in the process of consolidating its work and establishing a coalition that will sustain its support to women human rights defenders in the future. As part of this process, the campaign is developing a report on the state of affairs of women human rights defenders since 2005, when the campaign was launched, until the present.
As an activist defending women's rights or one of the women human rights defenders, we encourage you to complete this questionnaire. Your response will be the basis of the report and will inform the three-year strategic plan of the coalition. It will give us a better understanding of the profile of women human rights defenders worldwide, as well as the violations and constraints they face in their work and the measures needed to address them.
It will take you about 1 - 2 hours to complete this questionnaire. You may answer it on your own, or you can form a focus group discussion for a collective reflection, but be sure that each participant in the group is writing on one questionnaire each. Please add more spaces for your answers if necessary. Your answers will be treated confidentially. But if there is any information that you may not want to reveal, you may skip answering that specific question.
