CHARACTERISTICS OF VICTIM SERVICES
& PROTECTION IN 2007
RELATIVELY LARGE NUMBER OF
TRAFFICKING REPORTS MADE BY FOREIGN PERSONS IN JAPAN
"Among the reports that we
(Polaris Project) receive, some are made by third persons who are not directly
involved with human trafficking.
We had more reports from people
living in foreign countries or foreign persons living in Japan than reports
from Japanese.
Those who live in communities where
foreign victims of human trafficking also live or work, seem to know
information on the hotline service for victims of human trafficking, in some
way.
Human trafficking could be taking place
at sites that we see everyday and do not pay attention to anymore.
Foreign persons living in Japan
might be more sensitive to signs of human trafficking than Japanese."
