The Kolo:
Women's Cross Cultural Collaboration (The Kolo: WCCC) focuses on intersecting
women's collaboration, representation and advocacy for gender justice to halt
gender violence internationally and nationally. The Kolo: WCCC promotes and
provides women's trauma counseling, treatment with a feminist and archetypal
perspective coupled with cross cultural practices that enable women in war torn
countries, such as Bosnia, the Balkans and Sri Lanka to become self-sustainable
in their communities. The Kolo: WCCC has two primary purposes- meaningful
works:
Bringing healing to Novi Travnik
Every year, trauma expert Danica
Anderson visits the tiny European nation of Bosnia as part of her ongoing work
healing women traumatized by war. Fighting transformed the quaint town of Novi
Travnik into a human shooting gallery, with snipers from opposing sides nesting
in the mountain ranges on either side of town. Today, more than a decade after the
conflict, the town languishes as its citizens struggle to recover both
economically and emotionally. A growing number of women in town practice
Anderson's trauma healing therapies in intimate community circles known as
kolos.
