Mama Cash wants to change the world and therefore invests in women who, in spite of the dangers, believe in their ideals and struggle for justice and change.

Mama Cash supports women's rights groups and organisations in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States, Latin America and the Carribean, and the Middle East and North Africa. Mama Cash financially supports groups and organisations that through their work strengthen women's rights in their country or region by providing general support grants, project grants, and travel grants.

General support allows organisations to fulfil the basic conditions for their activities: it pays for office costs; staff costs; and capacity building of the organisation including its staff and volunteers.

Project support is for costs directly related to a specific project that the group initiated and organises.

Travel grants are for individuals who are member of women's rights organisations, to attend trainings, conferences and other linking and learning events, which will help the organisation build it's knowledge and capacities in the area of their activities as well as strengthen their network.

Measuring social change

Making the Case is Mama Cash’s evaluation tool. It helps women’s groups to assess the changes they made (big or small), the results and impacts achieved and the opportunities and challenges faced in their work. It is a strong learning and self-assessment tool that measures ‘social change’ and helps women’s groups to ‘make a case’ for the good work they are doing.
