KARAMA
As a regional
network of activists from nine countries across the Middle East and North
Africa, Karama Focuses on developing anti-violence strategies particular to the
realities of women in the region, and elevating the status of Arab women as
leaders and experts. The focus is ending violence against women from eight
different perspectives, by understanding and addressing the causes and the
effects of violence in the fields of health, politics, education, religion,
laws and the judicial system, art and culture, media, and economics.
While broadening the constituencies working to end violence against women,
Karama also seeks to make the Arab women’s movement more powerful and
effective, in these efforts, Karama’s framework serves to rebuild the
collaboration and strengthen the visibility of Arab women as leaders across
national social sectors, and to elevate their voices, vision and advocacy in
front of regional and international bodies.
