Norway: Changes in Au Pair Regulations -
Employment Contract Compulsory
The Directorate remarks that au pair
applications submitted after 28 Jan 2008 must include the standard employment
contract and the form Important information on rights and obligations for au
pairs and their host families. Applications submitted at a Foreign Service
Mission or a Police Department after this date that do not include these
documents, will be rejected.
The standard contract is
now compulsory, and the host family has to pay for Norwegian
language tuition.
The changes are published in
the new cicular that The Directorate of Immigration (UDI)
has developed based on the instruction from the Ministry.
New features in the circulars include:
The au pair system allows young
people to increase their language ability and gain greater knowledge of Norway
and Norwegian culture by living with a Norwegian family, says Karl Erik
Sjøholt, Director of The Managed Migration Department.
