International Workshop:

Gender, Youth and Economic Empowerment in the Pacific

The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), in partnership with Learning Oceania in the College of Asia and the Pacific at the Australian National University (ANU), will host a two-day workshop to consider the youth and gender dimensions of economic growth in the Pacific.

The workshop will focus on key gender and youth issues in Pacific economic development, including:

Call for Applications

AusAID and the ANU are calling for applications from interested persons for funded participation in the workshop.

The workshop will bring together participants from Australia and the Pacific working on youth and gender issues in the region and focus on issues of sustainable economic development. The workshop will provide a forum for researchers to present relevant findings, an opportunity to debate emerging issues and seed a networked community for future collaboration across the region. The workshop will seek to create intra-regional links, will be a valuable resource for leaders and policymakers working on youth and gender issues, and provide knowledge for future Pacific leaders.

Selection Process

Up to 20 participants will be selected for funded participation. A selection panel will convene to assess the applications against the above criteria. The panel will be aiming for a balance from different Pacific Island Countries, age, gender, and for the participants to come from a range of sectors. It is expected that successful applicants will be advised by the end of February.
