One award will be given to one
individual who has survived a form of slavery and is now using his or
her life in freedom to help others exercise the purpose of their lives.
The award is named the Frederick Douglass Award.
The recipient will receive:
• $10,000 for training and capacity building to continue and
expand their work.
• $10,000 to be awarded over two years, and used as he or she sees
fit.

Two Fellowships to work
with Free the Slaves will be awarded to young adults who have
demonstrated consistent determination, creativity and results in the
anti-slavery movement. These fellowships are named the Anne
Templeton Zimmerman Fellowships.
The recipients will receive:
• A one-year fellowship to work with Free the Slaves, with a
salary of $35,000 plus benefits.
• A professional development package including accredited academic
and non-profit management courses.
• The opportunity to travel overseas to learn about other
anti-slavery efforts.

Two awards will be given to community-based anti-slavery organizations
that are demonstrating how slavery can be dismantled and destroyed.
These awards are named the Harriet Tubman Awards.
Both winning organizations will receive:
• A grant of $25,000 a year for 2 years.
• A technical assistance package worth $15,000 for each of 2
years.
• A US study tour to share experiences with relevant
organizations.
• A short documentary produced by Free the Slaves about the
activities and work of the organization.

One award will be given to an individual who has moved a major
institution, government, business or large groups of people to
significant action to fight slavery. This Award is called the William
Wilberforce Award.
The recipient will receive:
• $10,000 to be awarded over two years, and used as he or she sees
fit.
