Egypt: NISAA (Women) Magazine ECWR

 

To internalize awareness of gender concerns in daily life, promote active discussion and critical thinking, and challenge readers to re-think shallow images of women, ECWR launched on a volunteer basis a new magazine, Nisaa (“women”). Each issue includes:

- A Woman and a Cause: Highlighting a particular issue that socially, religiously, politically or legally affects Arab women from all points of view.

- A Report: An interview, article and study bringing a hidden problem to light

- Forum on Women’s Rights: A space for women to express their thoughts and reflections, send complaints and narrate their stories.

- Arab Woman Report: A comprehensive biographical panorama of the experiences of women from a particular Arab country.

- Women and Art: Reportage and documentation on the intersections of women and art, highlighting particular artists or those on the literary scene.

- Civil Society: Recognizing Arab institutions and organizations that dedicate themselves to the work of the betterment of women’s lives, including women’s rights organizations.

- The Faces of Women: Photos of Arab women will portray their situations without comments.

- Woman-Net: Encouragement to women to utilize the internet, describing the nature of the information available as well as the necessity to empower ones self through knowledge.

- Home: Cultivating a sense of culture and self confidence, this will discuss cooking and home economics from a cultural and efficiency perspective.

- Beauty: Discuss a deeper meaning of beauty, both physical and mental

- Sports: Reducing the daily stress of life and schedule time for self care

- Children: How to shape children's development and play a role in their life direction, build friendship and a respectful relationship

The edition of June 07 focuses on the role of the housewife.
