ATHENA2

ATHENA2 provides a platform for the fast-growing, inter-disciplinary and socially relevant field of gender education in Europe and to create synergy between different partners, so as to foster the growth of the field and to ensure a balanced regional representation of its partners. Secondly, the network has a monitoring function in that it aims to provide the means to ensure quality control, monitoring mechanisms and evaluation frameworks for educational activities in the area. It can also assess the impact and potentiate the dissemination effects of the different products. Thirdly, it aims to support the joint educational activities of the EU women’s studies community, so as to reach a qualitatively higher phase of co-operation, after the completion of the dissemination phase.

In order to reach the aims, the poject has a clear defined structure, which includes three main areas of activities, organised in as many working groups:

Working from a core curriculum to a core European degree
Strengthening The Link Between Education and Research, Including the Development of Joint European Training at Phd Level
Bridging the gap between Women and Gender Studies in the academia and women’s organisations, formation and training for women in the field
