2007 Gender and Rights-Responsive Sustainable Cities
Award Overview
The 2007 Awards for "Gender and Rights-Responsive Sustainable
Cities" will acknowledge excellence and innovation in the creation and
implementation of either programmes or policies in urban communities and
cities throughout Asia and the Pacific.
Mainstreaming gender and building rights responsive sustainable cities
requires contributions from mutliple stakeholders in any given community.
Hence, the 2007 Awards will be presented to individual leaders, civil society
organizations and local governments who have demonstrated excellence in
programme initiatives which improve the rights-responsiveness and gender
sensitivity of their communities. Furthermore, awards will additionally be
presented on similar criteria for the implementation of innovative
practices.
